Kasper

On Thursday, Sept 30 we lost our precious Kasper.

She had been losing the use of her hind legs and they

finally gave out completely. Thursday she couldn't

lift her hind end and I knew the pain was bad.

It was a very hard decision to make but I know it was the right decision.

Kasper loved going in the mountains,

jeeping and running,

chasing sticks and swimming

Shea is very sad.

She says Kasper was her favorite dog

and she loved her the most.

Cash lost his best buddy

She raised him from a pup and he is lost without her.

We will all miss you Kasper.

I know you are free of pain and happily bouncing through

the clouds with Suzee and Cina.

We spent Sunday enjoying the beautiful fall weather at Snowbird. So much going on for Oktoberfest. We rode the tram and enjoyed the view. Wandered through the vendor booths. Shea had her face painted and was the prettiest princess on the mountain. We had a great time enjoying all the activities and our time together. What a fun day!!!

Shea came to spend the night. We had a great time playing at the park in the leaves. Shea was really excited to take a bath in my big tub.

She is such a little princess.

We started the morning off with Mickey Mouse pancakes, then more fun reading and playing and drawing pictures.

Gary got a puppy for his birthday.

Cash is his name and he's an English Bulldog.

He has melted our hearts.

Even Kasper is in love with Cash.

Cam spent the day with me on Tuesday,

when Cash joined our family.

Cam is insisting we call him "Snort"

as he does a lot of snorting.

He's a very loving puppy and is always under foot.
When I sit at my desk, he generally curls up on my toes for a little nap.

Snippets of our Summer

Tony's 7th Birthday was celebrated at Chuckee Cheese with all the kids.
He was a very happy birthday boy!

Our summer wasn't all play, we sweated and worked hard sanding and re-staining all our decks. That was a huge undertaking but well worth the work. They look beautiful, better than ever before.

Attending some of Crystal's riding events was a new experience for me. She's quite a rider and it's been fun for me to learn about the world Gary came from with horses and rodeos.

A Summer night camp out in the backyard with Brexton, Zach, Max and Cam was a really fun night for an old grandma. It's been a long time since I slept on the ground but definitely a night to remember. These 4 very special boys make everything fun for me. They are so full of life and love, every minute with them is an experience to remember.

A birthday dinner with Mary and Jeff as we celebrated Jeff's "50th" ??? birthday. He was a really good sport when they told him he had to sit in the saddle for a birthday YeeeHaaw.

It's been a great summer with kids and family, concerts and camp outs, exploring Farmington Canyon and just hanging out and enjoying the life we're living.
Thanks to everyone who's been a part of our summer.

Sadie's Blessing

Our Beautiful Granddaughter, Sadie Rose, was blessed on Aug 2nd.

The blessing was followed with a lunch and swim party at Bryan and Annalisa's home. We all had a really good time being together for this special day. Grandma enjoyed swimming with the kids: Max, Brexton, Xander, Ethan, Grandma and Shea in the pool.

Snowbanks, Wildflowers and Water Fights

Saturday we drove up Farmington Canyon to find some cooler temps. We were successful, it was probably 15 degrees cooler.
We came across several snowbanks on the backside....

...and the wildflowers were very abundant and gorgeous.

This is us overlooking Farmington and The Great Salt Lake.

It took some convincing on my part for Gary to believe he could fit his jeep between these 2 trees.

Kasper loves going in the jeep (see her grinning as she hangs out the back at the snowbank)
She enjoyed many swims in the lake to retrieve her stick.

Sunday was a BBQ and water party with the kids.
Uncle Bryan made a big hit with the kids as he filled water balloons...

...The boys had a "BLAST" throwing balloons at each other and all of us.

Another great weekend with the family.
We are truly blessed to be able to enjoy days like these.

Hot Summer Night

Concert # 2 on our Summer Concert Tour! Kenny Chesney was HOT! So was the weather. It had to have been 110 degrees on that arena floor with not a hint of a breeze. But the beer was flowing (at an outrageous price of $9 per beer) The music was awesome. Kenny was awesome and my date was awesome. We had a really great time.

Catch Up Time

Our visit with Dad and Barb was relaxing and Hectic.

Dad enjoyed the days to catch up on his reading and seemed to be happy to let Barb and I go our own way.

...So we took advantage of the opportunity to go and have pedicures.

Wednesday night we all went to see Zach and Cam play T-Ball and then to Mooney's house for a Pizza Party.

On Thursday morning we were visited by a hummingbird in the house. Poor little guy was overcome by the dust webs in the brick wall. (Guess I better get to dusting)

We finished Thursday off with dinner at The Melting Pot.

I finished off this week golfing with Zach and Cam. What a hoot. Just image Cam loose on a golf course with a club and a ball. YUP! It was wild.

Friday night was George Strait in Concert with my Gaer Bear. Too good for words.

What a whirlwind the past 10 days have been.
It just doesn't get any better than good times with the people you love!

Memorial Day ... 1983

I've felt a sense of uneasiness the last week or so. It usually happens this time of year around the anniversary of the Rudd Mudslide in Farmington.

This is a picture of where my house once stood. That's my bathtub in the foreground.

At approx. 7:00 PM on Monday, May 30, 1983 Memorial Day our lives were changed forever as a mudslide roared down Rudd Canyon above our home in Farmington. In all 7 homes were destroyed and about 200 people evacuated. Our home was in direct path of the slide and totally destroyed by the power of nature. Amazingly no one was hurt. We ran along with most of our neighbors fleeing what we had no idea was coming. Everyone was running from the enormous rumbling noise. I ran with 4 year old Bryan on my hip and 10 year old Jake by my side. Susan was at a neighbors house so her dad went to get her. We were all reunited and evacuate to Bountiful at Grandma Jane's house. I still hear the deafening roar and grinding, sirens make me uneasy because those were the sounds of the night.

As with all tragedies, amazing things came out of this experience. The wholehearted goodness of people is unbelievable in crises situations. We saw such an outpouring of love, concern and caring in the days, weeks and months following the mudslide. Life is all about changes and change is a good thing.

Give those you love a hug tonight and remember that they are what is really important in our lives. My hugs go out to all of you. I love you.

The Joy of 3 Year Olds..Cam & Shea

AAHHH! The pure joy and innocence of 3 year olds. I love to watch these 2 little bugs. I am blessed to have Cam and Shea at this wonderful age this year. You know pure joy when you hear the giggles and laughter of 3 year olds.

Words are not really necessary. It's all in their cute little faces.

The Glory of Weeds...

Have you ever stopped to appreciate the beauty of a dandelion? My backyard flower garden has given me ample opportunity to admire them. They have taken over and over and over. As I contemplated removing the weeds to make way for the flowers I was presented with a great photo opportunity. The sprinklers had recently been on so the dandelions were glistening with water drops. I ran and got my camera and proceeded to take more than 50 pictures of dandelions. Crazy, but fun!

I've been taking photo classes and was given a homework assignment or challenge. The instructor challenged us to commit to taking A picture everyday and create a file to keep a daily photo journal. Of course, no one can shoot just one. Once the camera's out it's hard to quit. Anyway, the picture of me behind the dandelions is todays journal entry. It will be interesting to see how many different things show up in a years time.

I pass the challenge on to each of you. It will be fun!

Tulip Festival

A Beautiful Day,
in A Beautiful Place
with Beautiful People.
Susan, Zach, Cam and I went to the Tulip Festival at Thanksgiving Point. Definitely worth the trip if you ever get a chance. The day was perfect with temp in the mid 70's under a bright blue sky.

The colors were gorgeous! Pinks, yellows, reds, oranges, whites, purples......

The boys were sooo good for a long walking, photo op trip with mom and grandma.
(We walked for over 3 hours and they never complained. Of course I bribed them with ice cream when we got done if they'd let me take pictures.) I took 317 pictures today, it was so much fun.

Their favorite part of the day was rolling down the big grass hill at the end of the day. These little guys must have rolled down and hiked back up at least 10 times. You can see the pure joy in the expressions on their faces.

There's nothing like a fun day out amongst the flowers, under the sun with my daughter and grandsons to make me appreciate my life and all the blessings in it. This day was a winner.

I call this color "Robin Egg Blue" It is really relaxing and at the same time uplifting. If you click on the picture you can see that the bedding is covered in butterflies and wildflowers. AAhhhhhh!

Amazing how the mind can wander...

As I relaxed in my hot tub a couple nights ago my mind went on a little journey. It started with looking at the stars and remembering a night in Dad's hot tub with Brexton several years ago. It was really fun taking Brexton to visit his Great Grandparents in Valley Springs, CA. I thought of all the fun times we had on that trip and the great memories of little things that happened. Brexton remembers coloring lots of pictures while we were there.

From there I went back to when Jake was a little guy and was lucky enough to travel to Wisconsin with his Grandma Jane to visit his distant relatives. I had to search for this picture of them boarding there flight in 1977. (This picture was rescued after the Mudslide in 1983, thus the mud stains) Then, that brought back memories of him in that cute little Baby Blue Polyester Suit (it was the '70's remember) that he wore. I loved that little guy in his fancy blue suit. Stills brings tears to my eyes thinking of how adorable and grown up he was at a mere 4 years old.

One of my favorite memories:
Grandma Jane told a story about Jake on the airplane. She asked him "Why are looking up? Why don't you look down and see what's on the ground?" Jake replied, " I'M LOOKING FOR HEAVENLY FATHER" That just touches my heart every time I think about it.

The Birds

I took these pictures on Friday in Woods Cross.
It reminded so much of the "The Birds" (1963) a suspense film directed by Alfred Hitchcock. As a child of the 60's this was the scariest movie ever. I still like to watch it and it still scares me.

Did you know.....
According to The Hollywood Reporter a 2009 remake of The Birds is in production, with actress Naomi Watts, who is in discussions to take the role of Melanie Daniels. The plot will be based on the original short story by du Maurier.
It had been reported that the film would have a release date of July 3, 2009. Producer Brad Fuller had discounted that report in an interview with The Trades. In an interview with the Denver Post, Robert Knepper said he would also be starring in the new remake; although no official word is out, it is believed that he has signed. According to IMDb, the remake has been delayed and likely would not be released until 2010 or 2011.

I'm looking forward to seeing the remake, however it will never have the same impact of the original version.

My Special Days

Yesterday (March 11) was my Birthday and it was really special. At my age I really don't care about celebrating birthdays but all the people around me who love me do care. THANK YOU!! I woke up to flowers a card on the counter from my sweetie. He also bought me a new front door for my house. Then I got text messages and phone calls all day long. I got to go enjoy a nice massage and then had lunch at McDonalds with Max. Max is one cool date.

I topped off the day with dinner at Loco Lizard in Park City with Jake, Jen, Shea and Seth and Gary.

We had a really great time just hanging out and visiting. Dinner was really yummy too. It's always fun to spend time with the kids.

Today I got to spend with Zach and Cam. They decorated this beautiful birthday cake for me. It's going to be so yummy. We are having dinner tonight at my house with Greg, Susan, Zach, Cam, Gary and me.

It's been a wonderful birthday. Thanks for all the love, fun, calls, emails, texts, gifts and mostly just for being a part of my life.

Welcome Sadie

I'm so excited to introduce my new granddaughter.

Sadie arrived Friday, March 6, 2009 at 1:11pm. She weighed in at 7 lbs 7 oz and 20 inches long. She is the beautiful baby of Bryan and Annalisa, sister to Brexton and Max.

It all started with the closet....

I got the bug shortly after the Holidays.

I needed some change.

Gary being the good sport that he is, graciously went to work building shelves in my closet so that I could organize my shoes and stuff. Shortly after that was done I decided it was time to revamp the whole bedroom. I realized that it just wasn't me anymore, it was a dark and dreary room. I last remodeled it when I was going through my divorce (4 1/2 years ago). At the time I was depressed and could sleep away the hours without any concern for time of day or night. So it was only natural to darken the room to match my mood. It was a nice room, I liked the dark colors at the time. However....I decided to lighten and brighten the room
to reflect the NEW ME!

It should all be done this weekend. Gary's worked hard with lots of advise and critiquing from you know who (ME). I actually even put on a few touches of my own with a paint brush. I'm excited to get it all put together.

You will have to check back for the unveiling of a beautiful new room.

Kids and Dinosaurs, WOW!

We spent a great day with the kids and dinosaurs. It was really fun to see the little ones react to the dinosaurs. I learned a lot about Dinosaurs, it was really educational as well as entertaining. Of course, Zach already knew most of what they had to say, however he did admit to learning a few new things.

Santa had me give my grandkids there own elf for the season to help them remember to be good. On Thanksgiving each family received their elf. Each night this elf returns to the North Pole to report to Santa. In the morning he's back in his home to do his job.

Giving Thanks

Yesterday Bryan came by and saw this on my kitchen window sill. He said "Mom, what are you giving thanks for?" He had a few other comments as only Bryan can, as usual he was screwing around with me and being silly. We bantered back and forth over silly things.....But it made me think.....
I have a lot to be thankful for including my family, and the wonderful man in my life who was caught filling my car with gas today. What a sweetie.

And I'm thankful for another beautiful autumn day. I loved the bright colors of this tree against the bright blue of the sky. It won't be long till all the trees will be barren and snow will cover the ground. Today was beautiful right up to the end.

The day ends with another beautiful sunset and now I'm off to the hot tub.
